"Courage" Statue
courage-2

The “Courage” Statue was designed to remind us of the extraordinary courage of frontline soldiers in the heat of battle. The statue, encompassed by the Courage Pool, depicts three American Infantry “doughboys” coming out of the relative protection of a trench during World War I to attack and defeat the enemy. This took great Courage indeed! The models for this statue are all Madison County servicemen: Sergeant First Class Chad C. Perry, Alabama Army Reserve, who served in combat in Afghanistan. Major Jeff Owen, and Major Russell M. Spry, both with the Alabama National Guard, and both have served in combat in Iraq.
