“Sacrifice" Pool
Dedicated by Teledyne Brown Engineering
The Sacrifice Statue reminds us of the human sacrifice paid for freedom. The water that flows into the Sacrifice Pool represents the blood spilled by millions of our servicemen and women. The statue reflects the willingness to sacrifice self for country, save a fallen comrade and leave no one behind. The three soldiers are Madison County war veterans. On the left is Sergeant Everett L. Carter, Sr., an airborne infantryman who fought in Vietnam in the 1960s. The wounded soldier in the center is Sergeant Hubble Hainline, who was severely wounded during the Iraq war. On the right is Sergeant Jessica Newey Carter, who was also wounded in Iraq. Both Sergeant Hainline and Carter served in the Alabama National Guard in Huntsville.
