Patriotism Portal
Dedicated by Torch Technologies
As you stroll through the Patriotism Portal, you will be led to the Eternal Flame. Situated appropriately to the left of the U.S. Flag and directly in front of the POW/MIA Flag, the Eternal Flame is a reminder of all those who died, were imprisoned and remain missing in war.
Eternal Flame
Dedicated by The Stender Family
Eternal fire is a long-held tradition in many cultures and religions. An eternally lit lamp was a visible aspect of veneration and a religious ritual. After WWII, such flames were used as reminders around the world of the millions that were killed or missing in war. It is fitting indeed, that we include an eternally lit lamp at our memorial to honor those who paid the supreme sacrifice by giving their lives in defense of country, to reflect and pay homage to those who suffered as POWs, and to remember and pay tribute to those that remain missing in action, presumed dead.
The Eternal Flame provides a very visible and continuous reminder of the sacrifices made by our nation’s bravest soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen. It is here on this hallowed ground, for families, friends, citizens, and our youth, to reflect and never forget the high price paid by so many of our men and women who faced the enemies of our country with courage and patriotism.
